The Termite Problem
Termites
commonly known as White Ants live in the soil and are found damaging
standing crops, seedlings, wooden furniture and building material.
Termite lives in large colonies of thousands. Each colony has
one or more queen which lay eggs. The egg develops into new colony
members. The queen is surrounded by the workers in the colony
in several thousands. Worker termites continuously move to and
fro from the soil to source of the food including wood and cellulose
material which they eat and digest. During the rainy season, a
large number of both sexes are produced. They travel distant unhabitated
area and excavate small burrows near the soil surface and prefer
well aerated place which is well pulverized. This particularly
suits the ploughed fields and building sites where during the
construction, deep digging is done.
The upper zone of the soil layer is where the termite attack
generally takes place. In seedlings, young and mature plants,
the root system is completely severed due to the underground feeding
by termites on tap roots, and / or lateral roots, resulting in
loss of vigour, yellowing, wilting and ultimately leading to its
death. Similar effect is noticed in case of ring barking of the
tap roots and collar region.
WHY CALIBER – The
Termite Terminator
The
basis of Termite control is to break the wood-soil contacts, making
it difficult for the Termite to reach the wood or cellulose. Our
age of chemicals warfare seen the emergence of many deadly poisonous
compounds like Aldrin and Chlordane to control termites. These
are causing irremediable damage to human existence and to our
environment. Keeping this in view, the unique herbal, Non-poisonous,
Eco-friendly Termite Terminator CALIBER with “anti fungal
characteristics” derived from exclusive plant alkaloids
was invented.

Mode of action
CALIBER is an emulsifiable concentrate of plant alkaloids origin.
It has broad spectrum action which ensures excellent control of
all types of Termites. CALIBER has triple action viz. stomach,
contact and vapour action resulting in faster killing of termites.
Caliber has longer persistence in soil without any harmful effect
on soil or crop, thereby giving protection for longer periods.
Application
Agriculture
Seed Treatment (specially wheat) : Mix 500 ml
CALIBER in 5.0 litre water and spray on 100 kg seeds.
With Irrigation : 1200-1500 ml per acre with irrigation (drip
by drip)
Forestry & Nursery
Soil Mixing Method: Prepare solution
of 750 ml of CALIBER in 50 litre of water. Use this mix with 1
cubic meter of soil in rotary drum. This soil is sufficient for
1000 polyethylene bags of 20 x 10 cm size.
Drenching Polythene Bags: Prepare solution of 750 ml
of CALIBER in 50 litre of water. Keep polyethylene bags containing
seedlings as close as possible and drench the soil with above
solution.
Soil Treatment: Prepare a solution of 15 ml CALIBER
in one litre of water. Apply 1 litre solution by digging 15 cm
deep trench in approx. 0.2 m2 area encircling the base of a tree.
Bark treatment: Prepare a solution of 15 ml CALIBER
in one litre of water. First scrape off earthen sheaths or galleries
/ run always. Apply CALIBER solution either as spray or paint
with brush on trunks.
Building & Construction
CALIBER acts as a barrier around the building
protecting it against termites. Its effect in controlling termites
lasts for several years. It is best to give CALIBER treatment
at the foundation stage itself. The floor and the walls of the
foundation are soaked with a solution of CALIBER. Likewise soil
below the plinth area should also be treated with CALIBER before
tiling or concreting.
Pre Construction Treatment: After digging, CALIBER should be
applied to treat the bottom and sides. 5.0 litre of CALIBER spray
fluid / meter sq. to reach 30 cm depth.
Post Construction Treatment: CALIBER may be given by drilling
holes along the periphery of the building close to the wall and
pouring the required quantity of CALIBER solution to completely
soak the soil. Similarly, plinth area also to be treated with
CALIBER, pouring the solution in drilled holes. Is there any sentence
here? The below sentence seems abrupt 7.5 litre CALIBER spray
fluid per linear meter in the refill earth on both sides of all
built-up walls.
Before Laying Of Floor: Before laying the floor, the top surface
of the consolidated earth within the plinth wall may be drenched
with @ 5.0 litre of CALIBER spray fluid per square meter.
Note:- Mix 1.0 litre of CALIBER in 20 litre of water or preferably
kerosene to prepare spray fluid.
Woodwork & Furniture
Oil, Turpentine or Kerosene of based solution
of CALIBER 0.5% concentrate is useful for the treatment of woods
and plywood. The solution can be prepared 14 ml in one litre of
oil / turpentine / kerosene and coated 2 times with a paint brush.
In case of wooden structure which is affected, inject the spray
fluid with hand compressed spray or hypodermic needle in to the
wood. For lasting solution, the termite should be located in the
vicinity and destroyed by flooding the mound with kerosene based
spray fluid.
Timber Plywood Protection
20 ml CALIBER per glue line mixture.
